The Solution To The Planet's Most Pressing Problem!

Postby gh » Thu Dec 14, 2006 8:33 pm

The San Francisco Chronicle has unwittingly uncovered the solution to global warming. I cite the December 12 issue of the paper, where on page 14 one finds the headline "Ice At North Pole Could Be Gone By 2040, Scientists Warn.>> And then the subhed, "Dire news on global warming as Geophysical Union meets in SF.>>

Scary stuff indeed. But wait! There, on p. 15, right across the gutter, appears this hed: <<Small Nuclear War Could Severely Cool The Planet.>>

I think I need say no more.

During the Soviet Era, I always thought that instead of all-out nuclear war between the US and the SU (which, at times, especially to a 5th grader who participated in Air Raid drills by cowering under his desk at school as the creepiest ever siren wailed interminably, seemed inevitable), we should just pit US Georgia against SU Georgia . . . mano a mano, best state wins. I propose we do that now. It's for a good cause. It's sort of a win-win situation for us. I never had any use for them Georgia bulldogs anyway, so even if we 'lose', we WIN, and everyone benefits from the end of global warming. Besides, ex-SU Georgia is a 'democracy' now, so what do we have to lose? Maybe mandatory conversion to the metric scale, at worst? Even *I* would be willing to give up my beloved Imperial system for the benefits of such a war. Think about it.

Theres a good chance Isreal will throw a few A bombs at Iran as soon as Iran gets close to making their own A bomb. In other words dont worry about Global warming.

Small problem, since global warming will send Europe into an ice age. I guess if all the bombs explode over Europe it could help warm the place up a bit.

A first-strike A-bomb by Israel would be their death knell. They would lose all support in the west and the Arabs would soon overrun them. They can get away with a first strike conventional bomber strike (and if I recall correctly, they have before) but not nuclear.

There is only one thing left to do. I'll nominate both of you for the Nobel Peace Prize.

That would be awesome. Any world where I share a Nobel Peace Prize with SQUACKEE would definitely be a better place to live.

Hey Hammy we get cash, right? Do we have to share it or do we both get the same amount as if it was just one receptient? When do we get the money? How much money do we get. Is it one check? Do we have to pay taxes on the money? I'll tell you one thing the moment the money arrives in this house there gonna be a lot of peace.

I dont really care about the money of course, just curious.

The prize in 2004 included 10 million SEK. I don’t know what that means, but it sounds like a lot. I’m sure we can figure out a way to split it, or maybe we can just arm-wrestle for it, or play HORSE. And if we go to Wesley Snipe’s accountant I am sure it is tax free.
