Pole vaulter in closing credits of "Heroes"

Postby gm » Wed Nov 22, 2006 12:59 pm

Hope I am not covering old ground here, but any of you who watch Heroes or Crossing Jordan, have you noticed the picture of the old-time-y pole vaulter in the closing credits? Anyone want to hazard a guess as to who that vaulter is?

I noticed that too. It's an old B&W photo of a guy in mid-stride in the approach with Tailwind Productions underneath. This is all Mr. Google found:

I saw that Heroes is produced by “Tailwind productions," which uses a pole vaulter for their icon, which is great.

(WM-Some guy is claiming the idea for Heroes came from an online book he wrote. If you scroll down at the above link, he explains himself pretty well. I tried in vain months ago to track down the origin of that closing credit)

"Just a pop quiz, 'kay? Try to find any real contact information about Tim Kring's Tailwind Productions. Ready? Go!

The last time I tried to find out more about Tailwind, I mostly found hits related to "Crossing Jordan". I later found out Tim used to go by the name Richard, and the few hits for richard-kring tailwind brought up a bunch of his and sometimes Lisa's political contributions. Some years he went by Robert and Tim with different titles for an occupation. So I could kinda understand that it would be difficult to track down Tailwind Productions, at least in a preliminary, basic search...

But yeah, I agree- there has to be other routes to get a hold of Tim. Cool"

You have half the name there, just need the first name of this top vaulter from the 40s-50s, who later became a fairly well-known coach!

From Illustrated History of the Pole Vault:

By the way, that's Ray's [Kring] picture you see at the end of each episode of "Crossing Jordan", and "Heroes". Ray's son's production company "Tail Wind Productions" produces them both.
