Nicole Forrester out at the opening height of 1.85m - must be some inane screaming from a crazy Canuck in the crowds that put her off!

All the rest safely over 1.85m...

Vlasic now the sole leader with her first-time clearance at 1.97m. Acuff, Green, Aitova, Friedrich, Palamar all out already.

Bar moves up to 2.00m - Savchenko, Slesarenko and Vlasic the only ones left in. Vlasic fails on first attempt, as does the Russian duo. Same applies for all of their second attempts - looks like today won't be the day for a PB, let alone a WR.

1 VLAŠIC, Blanka CRO 2.00
2 SAVCHENKO, Yekaterina RUS 1.97
2 SLESARENKO, Yelena RUS 1.97
4 BEITIA, Ruth ESP 1.94
5 CHICHEROVA, Anna RUS 1.94
5 PALAMAR, Vita UKR 1.94
7 FRIEDRICH, Ariane GER 1.90
8 AITOVA, Marina KAZ 1.85
8 GREEN, Emma SWE 1.85
10 ACUFF, Amy USA 1.85
FORRESTER, Nicole CAN NM

How can people be offended by Vlasic's goofy dancing?

Blanka out at 2.06m. Her first attempt was very close but is clearly tiring.

Lots of competitions and lots of 2m+ competitions for Blanka Vlasic this year. What's the record in one season?

This list was posted by Pela a couple months ago. Just updated it so it now stands at:

17
1987 Stefka Kostadinova

15
1992 Stefka Kostadinova
2007 Blanka Vlasic

13
1986 Stefka Kostadinova
1995 Inga Babakova
1996 Stefka Kostadinova

11
1988 Stefka Kostadinova

10
1992 Heike Henkel
1993 Stefka Kostadinova
1996 Inga Babakova
2002 Kajsa Bergqvist

So she has the most 2m+ jumps in one season by one person since 1992! She also has a string of 10 consecutive competitions over two metres.

If she has two competitions left this year (and clears 2m in both), she will equal Kostadinova's record.

Worth noting that Vlasic has an additonal three 2m+ jumps indoors this year too, which brings her overall tally to 18. But Kostadinova's overall tally from 1987 is 23! Also equal to Kostadinova's overall tally from 1992.

I took Kostadinova off the list and it looks a little different.

That's for sure but hey, she's up to 8 steps now. Three years ago she was using a standing start 5 step run-up.
