John, Paul, George, and Ringo

Postby DoubleRBar » Wed Feb 22, 2012 7:35 am

Happy birthday today (Wednesday) to an Olympic champion who competed in two Olympic Games.
Our birthday champion competed in two different events in those two Olympic Games and won gold in one of those events.

James Wlcek, an American actor, was born on the same day, same month, and same year as our birthday athlete. If you watch a lot of daytime television, you might recognize James Wlcek.

The Beatles returned to London from their first trip to the United States on the same day our birthday champion was born.

This Olympic gold medalist also finished first at the World Indoor Championships, however does not have the gold medal to prove it.

Today marks George Washington's 280th birthday. Our birthday athlete is about 1/6 that old.

Take these eight letters and rearrange them to discover our birthday champion's middle name: U.S.K. Tapir.

If you rearrange these five numbers, you can find our birthday athlete's Olympic gold medal performance: 63614.

A Republican U.S. president shares the same initials as our birthday person. Go ahead and name this Olympic gold medalist on Washington's birthday.

I always feel it's a bit unfair to answer a quiz question like this quickly, as you've obviously take a bit of time on setting the question up, but it's William Tanui

It's not unfair at all and you are correct. Happy birthday today to William Tanui, winner of the 1992 Olympic 800 meters. Tanui turns 48 years old this day. Congratulations, richh1948.

I arrived late as usual due to the translation, though calculated correctly. :(
Beatles' first tour in the United States took place in 1964.
So, our hero was born in 1964 and has 48 years of age.
Its possible Olympics 1984, 1988 and 1992.
The result - 63,614
1,43.66 - 800m
3,41.66 - 1500m men, too bad for the Olympics at that time.
4,13.66 - 1500m women, too bad for the Olympics at that time.
6,XXXX - an impossible result.
Sompeted in two different events - 800/1500m.
So is the winner of men's 800m.
The options are:
1984 Joaquim Cruz - does not fit. 800m 1984 gold, 1988 silver.
1988 Paul Ereng - P.E.
1992 William Tanui - W.T.
Middle name - U.S.K. Tapir
U.S. president shares the same initials
Of all the U.S. presidents Dwight Eisenhower only had last names begin with the letter "E"
D.E. - Dwight Eisenhower did not fit.
Consequently, we must congratulate William Tanui, who won Olympic gold medal 800m 1992.

I always enjoy Double R Bar's quiz's, although I could not solve them even I cheated. I equally enjoy gennady's brilliant logical solutions.
